WRL was represented by the Chair, Michael Heaslip at a community partnership event organised by the PACT Institute on 22 April. 43 people participated, including 16 university staff and 27 external community actors.
The event was coordinated by Dr Suzanne Wilson (WRL Research Fellow) and introduced by Professors Nicola Lowe, for PACT and Julian Manley (WRL Lead and Co-Director Centre in Community Connectedness and Co-operation (4C)). Dr John Lockhart (Co-Director 4C) gave a presentation on Freire and community engagement. Bryan Jones, (Dean of School – Health, Social Work and Sport) facilitated a consultation process in groups, where ideas for the development of community-university partnerships were discussed. First steps were taken to develop connections and partnerships between communities and the University of Lancashire that could build on the solid foundations of the WRL project for Cumbria.
